Doesnt look as bad as I thaught it might, though it does look a LOT like a Metro game, it will be a shame if thats all it ends up being. I like Metro games for what they are, but what they are, isnt STALKER.

Im glad it has inventory management. was fearing they would remove it.

I like Metro so im on this game.

Yeah, just as I predicted. It's Metro in a STALKER skin, but not STALKER in the slightest.

It's remarkable that a developer can be so utterly clueless as to what makes the original games so beloved, but I suppose this isn't surprising considering much of the original GSC team has long ago departed. STALKER is great because the world is constantly alive, emergent, and more vitally, entirely indifferent to the player's presence, which is simply incidental to it. It's not a player-focused experience, it's a world focused one. The Zone couldn't care less about you in the original games. Not anymore. Like all power-centric player fantasy games today, the world is crafted and revolves around the player. Instead of creating their own stories and creating immersion by crafting an emergent world, players are hand-led by the developer through a scripted, cutscene heavy campaign that triggers when they enter a certain point, pulling the agency from the player's hands to be "immersive", and, in effect, killing the atmosphere of the Zone and achieving the exact opposite. Downright insulting to the player's intelligence as far as I'm concerned, but such is the state of the industry.

Don't even get me started on the gunplay, the COD curse claims another victim. Have these developers even played current STALKER?

Yeah, this is STALKER in name only, it's otherwise Metro in the Zone. What a disappointment. Well, at least we have the original games with a far superior game design philosophy instead of this garbage that must be designed this way to be viable to current market trends. This is apparently what gamers want.

Another Metro hater lol.

Metro series is masterpiece.

this game still have STALKER 1 DNA with inventory system, anomalies, stamina system, tons of freedom in zone.

I doubt this is coming in 2023. Would be nice if it did, tho.

It was supposed to come out in 2022 but the war in Ukraine delayed it. The end of the video today said 2023. Since the devs moved away from the front lines I do not see any reason it wont come in 2023

Yep. Pretty much agree with this, although still on the fence.

Though that may just be a fools hope.

If it has mods support, its very salvageable.

Perhaps, but if the game is fundamentally structured on top of and centered around a scripted, cinematic foundation, I doubt mods will be able to gut that.

I really don’t understand how the developers don’t get that scripted cutscenes, even those that are integrated seamlessly into the gameplay as they appear to be here, are antithetical and destroy the unpredictable, dynamic, and emergent nature that defines this franchise. Any suspension of the world, even temporarily, defeats the entire point of what differentiates these games from all others and makes them so engrossing. I have to believe it’s money talking, that it’s being designed this way, because STALKER can be pretty uncompromising (especially early on), and would probably turn a lot of gamers off.

I am aware, and i never believed that it would come out in early 2022. There was nothing shown about the game BEFORE the war began. This is one of those games that they give you a date, when said date is approaching, they delay it by six months. When we're nearing those 6 months, they release a statement saying something similar to what Bethesda did with Starfield, and call it a day. Before the war in Ukraine, i would've expected the game to come out in late 2023 by the earliest. Now...🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

tbh im also not very impressed by this either. it just missing STALKER 1 vibe.

if this was trailer for Metro 4 I would be all over it but Stalker? nah.

before I saw inventory

I was giving it up and consider it "screw this game" until I see and my faith restore.

now all i see this game as Deus Ex human revolution. amazing game not as good as original Deus Ex that was best game ever.

Stalker 1 is Deus Ex, Stalker 2 is Human revolution.

It wouldn't matter. The campaign might be shit, but who plays an open world game for its campaign?

@uninspiredcup: I still dont know why its difficult for them to follow Arkane and do Prey 2017.

no modern elements. pure old school despite being multiplat.

guess only Arkane can do this kind of stuff.

my hype for STALKER 2 is down now. its below Atomic heart, Alan wake 2, System shock now.

Was worried about Metro in Stalker skin and it might end up being that, sure.

But was also worried we'd just get a trailer that's ripe for gifs, which is what this is. You can't communicate the Stalker experience in a short sporadic trailer.

Can't really glean much from what was shown here. Need to see extended, raw gameplay footage. See a how a full mission unfolds.

I get the pessimism, I'm there too. If I had to bet, be betting against it. But I'm far from decided, that trailer doesn't say much.

@Litchie:

Eh, really think we need to see uncut gameplay first.

Like if you go back and watch the SoC trailers, looks even less like Stalker than this lol. Makes the game look like CoD, but even more over the top.

Stalker really isn't a game for the standard hype trailer format.

Press F to pick up cloud.

This looks fine, hard to say. A trailer is just a trailer.

As long as mutated, radioactive Putin is the final boss it will be a cool game.

Yup, looks like CoD set in a zone or does that make it a Metro which it self is a Russian CoD.

Lol I guess he should. Or perhaps enter the game riding shirtless on a horse 😂. And it shouldn't be a boss fight. It should be a "special enemy interaction".
