HBO has released a trailer for the next episode of House of the Dragon's next episode, and it sets up what should be a dramatic conclusion to the first season of the Game of Thrones prequel. This story contains House of the Dragon spoilers.

In the Episode 8 trailer, we see House of the Dragon is pushing the events forward in time yet again with a second time jump. Aegon and Aemond (sporting his eye patch after the events of Episode 7) are now older, as are Rhaenyra's sons. The first time jump came two episodes prior, with Rhaenyra and Alicent being recast.

Viserys is sicker than ever, it seems, while the Sea Snake has suffered an injury in the Stepstones. The Iron Throne and the Driftwood Throne appear to be up for grabs, and a big battle is presumably coming. Otto Hightower himself, the Hand of the King, alludes to this, saying, "The threat of war looms."

In addition to the Episode 8 trailer, HBO released a behind-the-scenes video for Episode 7. In it, the cast and crew discuss the momentous events of the latest episode, including Aemond claiming the dragon Vhagar, Aemond losing an eye, the Targaryen relatives Rhaenyra and Daemon getting married, and Alicent finally speaking her mind. There are lots more fascinating insights and details in the video--check it out below.

House of the Dragon is soaring right now, averaging more than 29 million viewers for each episode. HBO has ordered a second season of House of the Dragon, but we don't know yet when it will air.

The show is now competing with another high-profile fantasy series, Amazon Studios' The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which picked up 25 million viewers for its first episodes.
