The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon's first season is coming to an end, and now HBO has released a trailer for the penultimate episode. This story and trailer contain big-time spoilers for House of the Dragon.

The trailer wastes no time setting up what everyone already knew: King Viserys (Paddy Considine) is dead. As such, the storm that has been brewing over the matter of succession for the Iron Throne will reach new heights in Episode 9. Meanwhile, Queen Alicent says in the trailer that Viserys told her with his dying breath that he wanted their son, Aegon, to be king, but Alicent is working off bad information and this is likely to cause some strife and drama to come.

The trailer also reveals that Larys (Matthew Needham) has made a discovery about Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy), as the camera cuts to a young, blonde-haired child. There is also mention of treason. Check out the trailer below.

In addition to this trailer, HBO released the latest in its "Inside the Episode" video for Episode 8. The show's key creatives and stars break down the momentous events of the episode, including the declining health of Viserys, the dinner scene, and major accusations that came to light. The video also touches on Visery's final words to Alicent about a bigger prophecy, which she misconstrues.

House of the Dragon's ninth episode arrives this Sunday, October 16, with the season finale coming a week later on October 23. The show has been renewed for a second season, but HBO has yet to announce when it's coming or what to expect from it.
